Section Two: Thought and Knowledge

An article I wrote on February 21, 1991 regarding the state of a portion of our early work on Mental Relativity theory:

Section Two: Thought and Knowledge

When we reconfigure the equation to read, t=k(a*d), we see that Thought equals Knowledge times Desireability. Since Desireability is a quantity of data that is Unknown, Thought equals Knowledge times the Unknown.


What this infers are that there are two TYPES of thought: One type in the deductive logic that rates Ability, the other type is the inductive logic that rates Desire. The type of Thought that generates Reason is Reasoning. The type of Thought that genrates Emotion is Feeling. Together, these two types of Thought constitute Thinking.

Note that Thinking and Thought contain BOTH Reasoning/Reasons and Feelings/Emotion. This is somewhat divergent from the popular misconception that Thinking and Feeling are two opposite endeavors.

In summary, Thought is the result of the movement of a pattern of data, either to compare it to existing Knowledge or to permute it into all possible variations.

We are left with the Mechanics of Knowledge. As Thought can move in two directions, Knowledge also is not fixed.

Looking at the equation in its initial form of t/k=a*d, Ability times Desire is Desireability and Thought divided by Knowledge is Changeability.

Reconfiguring the equation again to read k=t/a*d, we see that Knowledge equals Thought divided by Desireability. Or more susinctly, Knowledge equals Thought divided by the Unknown.

This suggests that Knowledge is changeable, not fixed. And that Changeability is a matter of degree. Every time Observed data is applied to knowledge, it reinforces the stability of the Knowledge that is contained as a subset of that data. Every time a pattern is found in the Unknown, the matching existing Knowledge is strengthened and becomes more fixed.

Unknown data is easily permuted by the Right Mind, but fixed Knowledge is never sent there. Preconception grows, and as it does, processing space becomes smaller and Thought diminishes.
If Knowledge had only two states, Fixed and Changeable, Mind would work as a computer. Memory would be either ROM or RAM. But Knowledge is varried by exposure, and many exposures to matching patterns are necessary to approach a truly fixed Knowledge. Again, it takes alot of Thought to create a little Knowledge. Conversely, a little Knowledge can generate alot of Thought.

If there were no active process to lower the stability of Knowledge, "fixed" Knowledge would eventually fill a closed system allowing no space for Thought and Mind would cease. But Knowledge fades with lack of stimulation back to its neutral state. It is only through repeated exposure that it can remain at a high level of stability.

Hence, those patterns that recurr with greatest frequency in observed data will gernerate the stongest patterns of Knowledge. And no observation will result in no Knowlege and Mind will cease.

In conclusion, a Mind will operate best if it is continually presented with new observations that vary from existing knowledge enough to generate Desire in the Right Mind but contain enough patterns that match existing Knowledge to generate Ability in the Left Mind. In this manner, more accurate knowledge will become more fixed and less accurate knowledge will cease to have stimulation. The end result being an increase of Ability and fulfillment of Desire.
