The Old Boise Cascade Plant in Salem Oregon (Part 1)

This is part one of a four part "gonzo" video I shot yesterday as we were exploring the old Boise Cascade complex in Salem Oregon. The facility covers a whole city block and actually encloses a major creek!

In the past, Boise Cascade was one of the major pollutors of the Willanmette River which runs through Salem. They were eventually forced out of business in this location.

The entire complex is currently being demolished, so Teresa and I decided we ought to got document what's left of the place (which dates back a century or more) before it is lost to the historic record.

In this first part, we walk down from the parking lot right off Commercial street and enter the underbelly of the building where it straddles Pringle Creek.
