Our Cabin after Landscaping

Image
As part of our landscaping, we built the stone planters, put in the lawn, put in all the flowers, added the trees, painting the house, sanded and stained the deck and added bark to the driveway Teresa added the Danish style molding to the top of the garage/guest house. The deck which was gray, was sanded and multi-coated with Brazilian Rosewood Oil. I always liked this built-in bench. The deck wrapped around the whole house with over 1200 square feet of redwood. It's silly, but I liked my little stone division between the lawn we put in and the bark mulch we used to cover the gravel drive-way. This particular part of the deck was so park-like, almost like a mansion's estate. We moved just days after finishing it, so we didn't get to enjoy it much. Our cats, Clarice (top) and Smudge liked the rebuilt balcony. Teresa replaced all the railings with new redwood and we removed and multi-coated the floorboards. Our Cabin After Remodling and Landscaping

Image
By the time we finished remolding (to sell it) we had turned the run-down place into a Thomas Kincade Cottage. We added lawns all the way 'round, plus flowers and even deciduous trees (like these maples). Teresa in the back yard, after all was completed. (House is not in the shot - off to the left out of picture) Here's me in the "lower 4o". The yard was a gorgeous split-level and we put in lawn on both levels, covering the original scrub and gravel.

Covered in Plaster Dust

When we decided to sell our cabin in 2005, we knew we could get a lot more for it with a little remodling. So, we spent about $5,000 on materials and put in all the labor ourselves. These pictures show me after I had been sanding plaster in the attice of the garage that we turned into a guest room. After installing insulation, I had dry walled the entire irregularly shaped inside of the room - two jobs I'd never done before and hope to never to again! Then, I plastered the who interior and then sanded it all down. These pictures are the result of my sanding effrorts. Teresa's job was to sand the deck in preparation for staining. When we bought the place we thought the old grey wood was pine. Turned out the whole 1200 square foot deck was redwood. Later I'll show some pictures of the finished product.
